I went from being 33 year old Kate who was energetic, independent woman who worked full time to an old person always in pain. In a matter of seconds, through no choice of my own, my life forever changed.
I was hit by an alleged drunk driver. I was left four broken ribs and cracked sternum, broken hip, broken femur, compound fracture of tibia and fibula, dislocated toe, lacerations to my liver and a partially deflated lung on top of all the cuts and bruises from the glass shattering. I spent a month in hospital learning to live and walk again. Now nearly two years later I remain disabled and in nearly constant pain.
