 Why We Walk

Caleb Craig

With our Tucson and Phoenix Walk Like MADDs both coming up, we like to remind everyone #WhyWeWalk. Joelle Howard walks in honor of her son, Caleb Craig.

My son, Caleb Ryan Craig was on his way to Minot, ND to meet me and help my mom with her flooded basement. He just got out of the Navy 2 weeks before and told me "I'll be the muscle mom!" He left Bremerton, WA on July 31st, 2020 and he was killed around 2:42am August 1st, 2020 in Montana. The drunk driver swerved into Caleb's lane at 91MPH and was almost 3 times the legal limit. Caleb was going back home to Tucson, AZ to use his GI bill and was looking forward to his life out of the Navy. We'll never be the same.

One of Caleb's close friends, Benjamin, also shares this about Caleb:

"One year ago, I lost more than a friend I lost a brother to a drunk driver. Caleb was one of the closest friends I ever had. I had the honor of sharing the experiences of meps, boot camp, A school, and Nimitz life with him. He was always there for me or anyone who needed help. For those who didn't really get to know him I'm sorry, he was a life changer and could always cheer up anyone. I could go on and on about how good of a person he was and the impact he had on me but he really was just a great person and helped shape me in to who I am today. Til Valhalla brother."
