You can still register in-person at Camille's Side walk Cafe 306 S. 2nd Street Gallup, NM 87301 from 4-7 p.m., today, Friday, September 13, 2024, or tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Red Rock Park. Runners, (5k and 10k) registration from 6:30 - 8:30 a.m. Walker, (2-mile walk) registration from 6:30 - 8:40 a.m. Please bring correct cash amount, or you can pay with a debit or credit card.

The 2024 Gallup Walk/Run Like MADD event will provide participants an opportunity to honor those lost by drunk driving crashes, bring awareness to the issue, and also enjoy a competitive run or a non-competitive 2-mile walk in the fresh air, surrounded by the majestic red rocks and beautiful scenery of Church Rock, NM. The event also will host a competitive, timed 5K and 10K run.
Registration Fees:
Law enforcement (2-mile walk, 5k, or 10k): $25 individually ($125 for a team of 5 people)
(Law enforcement can enter to run or walk individually or on a team)
Walker - Adult $25
Walker - Youth (5-18) $20
5k Runner - Adult $25
5k Runner - Youth (5-18) $20
10k Runner - Adult $30
10k Runner - Youth (5-18) $25
Dog - 2-MILE WALK ONLY (must be on a leash at all times) $10.00
Kids 4 and under are FREE
The 2-mile walk course is on pavement and suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Dogs are allowed on the 2-mile walk course ONLY and must be on a leash at all times. The 2-mile walk course will not be a timed event. Participants are welcomed and encouraged to form teams and walk in unity for their family members who have been impacted by a drunk driving crash. Tents, your own T-shirts, signs and pictures can be displayed at the event. The 2-mile walk will start at 8:40 a.m. and is an out-and-back course. (map above)
The 5k and 10k runs will be timed by Rocky Mountain Timing Company. Each runner will receive a bib with a timing chip. There are awards for 1st-3rd place in each age group, male and female, and 1st – 3rd overall, male and female. The 10k will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. and the 5k will start promptly at 8:35 a.m. The 5k course is exactly 3.1 miles, and the 10k participants will run the course twice. Participants are welcomed and encouraged to form teams and walk in unity for their family members who have been impacted by a drunk driving crash. Tents, your own T-shirts, signs and pictures can be displayed at the event. It is a fast, flat course with a few sandy spots for your enjoyment. 😊 (map above)
Law Enforcement Teams and Traveling Trophy
There will be a separate Law Enforcement competition for the 5k only, with the winning team taking home the “Traveling Trophy” (Customized UFC Belt!) Teams of 5, all 5 Certified Police Officers from the same agency, (must have at least 2 females on each team) will enter as a team on the website. $20 per person, $100 per team. The places of the five members of each team will be added up and the team with the lowest score wins. Example:

At the 2nd Annual Walk/Run Like Madd in September, 2025, the Traveling Trophy can be “stolen” by another agency. Law enforcement can also register individually for the 5k, 10k, or 2-mile walk. When registering a team, click on "Adult runner, 5k" and the next screen will give you an option to form a team. For any problems, questions regarding registering, text or call 505-409-1046.
What to Expect:
- Dress for changing weather! Average temperature: high of 73F low of 43F in Gallup in September.
- There will be aid/water/gatorade stations at the 1.5 mile mark. (10k runners will pass it twice)
- There will be music at the starting line, signs by local high school students, people cheering, great encouragement along the way, and an announcer at the finish line.
- Results will be available immediately after each race (www.rmtiming.co) and awards will start at 10:45 a.m.
- All runners and walkers will receive a medal and post-race snacks and drinks.
- Parking is in the dirt lot directly in front of the start/finish line parking lot. There is no charge for parking.
Day Before Event:
On-line registration ends at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024. You can still register at the event on Saturday morning from 6:30 am -8:00 am for the 5k and 10k, and up until 8:40 for the 2-mile walk. (We cannot guarantee that we will have change, so please bring the exact cash amount or you can donate your change :) or debit/credit cards are accepted)
