About MADD

Founded in 1980 by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.

MADD's Impact

MADD has helped save more than 370,000 lives, reduce drunk driving deaths by more than 50 percent and passionately served over 840,000 victims. MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® calls for law enforcement support, ignition interlocks for all offenders and advanced vehicle technology. MADD has provided supportive services to nearly 1 million drunk and drugged driving victims and survivors at no charge through local victim advocates and the 24-Hour Victim Help Line 1-877-MADD-HELP.

About Walk Like MADD

Walk Like MADD is MADD's signature fundraising event to help us raise both awareness and funds to end drunk driving and fight drugged driving. Several Walk Like MADD events have implemented a MADD 5K Dash. Last year, tens of thousands of people in over 90 cities across the nation participated, and together, we raised over 3 million dollars to provide our programs and services at no cost. With every step taken and each dollar raised, walkers are supporting MADD’s lifesaving mission to keep our families and communities safe. Take a stand and find your local event today!
