Why We Walk

Dad

Edgar Escobar Jr.

Home City: Redwood City, CA

Crash Anniversary: May 2001

Edgar Escobar Jr was born at Stanford Hospital on April 14, 1979, and was raised in Redwood City.  Friends describe him as a loving friend, team player and very proud of his family. Edgar was a very handsome young man and could light up a room with his smile.  He had a special charm!  He loved his friends and would do anything for them.  He was determined to be the best at whatever he was focused on.  He believed in having a good time but was also committed to living a healthy life, at any given point he would turn into a health nut and workout as if he was preparing for the Olympics. His career goal was to own his own business, and he was preparing to be an Electrician.

Edgar Jr passed away at the age of 22 at Lake Berryessa in Napa due to a drunk boating accident on Memorial weekend in 2001.  The driver of the boat was a 32-year-old second time DUI offender.  MADD victim services played a key role by referring a lawyer from their own network and supported the Escobar’s during a 2-year trial.

Edgar Jr left behind his mother, father, and an older sister who lives in the Peninsula.  He passed away surrounded by his closest friends, his favorite cousin, and girlfriend.  His last celebration of life was doing what he loved to do…enjoying life on the water with his closest friends.  Edgar Jr is forever missed. He left us way too soon but he will never be forgotten.  Thanks to this wonderful organization, sister Elisa Escobar, Bay Area MADD Board Member and parents Edgar/Ana Escobar will continue to reach out to the community to share his story to help influence and save lives.
